Fuck you

To all the fucktards out there who hate just to hate, or because they're stupid. Who hate others because of sexuality, nationality, colour of skin. Fuck you.

10 Swedish swear words

Apart from the fact that the Swedish word "as" actually means "carcass" and not "asshole" (which in Swedish is "rövhål"), this is a pretty good video of the most common Swedish swear words. I think I'll do a blog post about swear words some day :)

Last week in Sweden

Here are some of the things that happened in Sweden last week (April 29 - May 5).

Two weeks ago in Sweden

Here are some of the things that happened in Sweden two weeks ago (April 22 - 28).

Three weeks ago in Sweden

The Swedish Lad (I've posted some of his videos before, here and here) has begun doing a weekly segment he calls "This week in Sweden". I quite like the concept and I think it's a nice, quick and easy way of keeping up with some of the things that happen in my country for those of my readers who don't live in Sweden. The first week is from April 15 - 21.

Willy Wonka

I just really love this movie.

Trip to Iceland, 14 April, Part: 1

Here's a little video from the first day of our trip to Iceland :)

Please ignore the fact that some of us (mostly me...ok, only me) look...well, less attractive than one could wish. It was a reeeeaaaaally long day of travelling, from 7:30 in the morning till about midnight, and we alternated between being overly excited and energetic and tireeeeeeed.

When we flew in over Iceland and I, for the first time in my life, saw the coastline I was just amazed... It looked so different from home (Sweden), yet I felt...well, almost at home. It sort of reminded me of the Swedish and Norwegian mountains (fjäll). It was a strange and wonderful feeling. The only things we could see while we flew in, as the sun began to set, were the lava fields, snow and the sea (and a few islands). That was all. No houses or towns or anything else.
And when we walked out from Keflavíkurflugvöllur (Keflavik airport) and saw the blueish, purplish, pinkish sunset and were almost swept away by the strong wind, I felt really happy. It was beautiful, and I do love the feeling of wind whirling around me, especially if it smells like the sea.

More pictures and videos from Iceland are coming up, just hang tight!

Strövtåg i hembygden

I've never listened to Mando Diao (a Swedish band), but I came across this song where they interpret a part of a poem by one of Sweden's most famous poets, Gustaf Fröding.
It's just really beautiful.
(There are English subtitles so there is no reason for anyone not to play this video :P)

Hey hey hey hey-hey

25 years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the whole world's made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out, what's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs,
What's goin' on

...

And I try, oh my God, do I try
I try all the time in this institution
And I pray, oh my God, do I pray
I pray every single day FOR A REVOLUTION!

FOOTball

I'm going out with friends tonight, so I'll leave you with this!
I agree with everything this lovely German guy says, but he still cracks me up, I just can't stop laughing at him. Marvellous.

We be fucking fools!

You deserve one more :)

Kamelåså!

No blogging yesterday, I was busy in school (studying!!!) and getting beer spilled over me so yeah...

Returning ever so slightly to my "Embrace your Swedishness/Nordicness" thingy, I have a clip to share with you. I think it's really funny and shows what a lot of people (especially Swedes) think of the Danish language. Enjoy!

Hæ!

Góða kvöldið!
As I told you yesterday, I will be taking a course in Icelandic this term, and it starts tomorrow (SOOO EXCITED!!). To prepare for this, our teacher gave us some "homework", you know, the basics like greetings, numbers, words for family members and stuff. So far, I think it's both easy and difficult, because it is pretty similar to Swedish (shocking! :P), but still different enough to be tricky. Anyway, we'll see what tomorrow's lesson brings! In the meantime, enjoy this:

Bless, bless!
