English C-Essay

A while ago my good friend Anna S informed me that my English C-level Essay (that I have written about here before) can be found online. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I am, indeed, published on the internet. Yay me!

If you don't have anything better to do and would like to read 32 pages about language use in metal song lyrics, then go ahead:

I got the highest grade on it, so apparently my teacher thought it was pretty good ;)

Sceptre of Deception

Hmmm trying to focus on essay writing is not the easiest task... I have managed to write about 10 pages now, when finished it should be 15-20 pages, so I'm not that far away from my goal! =) I do, however, have barely one month to finish it, plus all the other crap I'm supposed to do in school! Oh, Shakespeare, if I could, I would do as Blackadder and go back in time and punch you in the face. At least sometimes I feel like that :P

If you are wondering what my essay is about I will be happy to tell you. I'm writing a C-Essay for my English course, 15 points all in all, which means points equal to half the term. In words more Linn-like: It's a big ass essay!

"But what is it about?" you may be asking. Well, the title is:

Language use in metal song lyrics: A study of the Swedish power metal band Falconer.

Oooh, a STUDY! Wow, that's specific! :P

Like Bea would say, "splainy?!"

I can share my purpose with you (this is a sneak peak from the abstract in my essay):

The purpose of this essay is to investigate the different linguistic aspects of a certain subgenre of metal music, power metal, to get a general picture of the language use in metal song lyrics.

There! Understand now?

Aaah, screw you guys, I'm goin' home!

Falconer - Jack the Knife

0:16 - 0:28...LOVE!

Falconer - Emotional Skies

This is the only other video I could find with Falconer, and it...sucks. I really do love the song though, so I'm putting it here anyway. The only thing I like about the video is that you get to see Karsten's footwork on the drums. I fucking love it! I also really love the guitar solos. What I don't love at all though, is Kristoffer Göbel as the singer. He is lame and reminds me too much of Hammerfall's Joacim Cans (an UGLY Joacim Cans that is). Boooring! Nobody could ever be a better singer for Falconer than Mathias Blad, cause that guy is EPIC! Thank god that Mathias is back in the band and has been for the last couple of years =)

So Mr. Göbels... kiss my ass, you suck!

Falconer - Carnival of Disgust

Okay, so this is the first video I've found with one of my absolute favourite bands - my beloved Falconer <3

The song is from their latest album Among Beggars and Thieves. It isn't one of their best songs (in my opinion, but on the other hand, HOW could you choose a best song of theirs? They're all so darn amazing!) but it's pretty damn good anyway. Hope you enjoy it =)
